About Me

My name is Doug. I live in Aurora, IL, and I have a passion for coffee. I worked over seven years for a coffee chain that began this obsession, until being displaced by recent store closings. By the grace of God, I found a new job managing within a different company, and I am able to bring my knowledge and love of product while learning about a brand new culture.

It is my goal that, through this blog, I will be able to create a culture of knowledgeable, educated coffee drinkers, and open a shop to cater to their needs.

Outside of coffee, I have a number of other projects and passions that have shaped my life.

I am an avid follower of the Chicago Blackhawks. I make it a point to watch (or at least listen to) each game, and have the privilege of attending about half a dozen games each year. (Pitching in with the rest of your family to get season tickets for your Dad really has its benefits, let me tell you!) I don’t know how to skate myself, but if any reader has the good will (and patience) to train me, I’m a willing student!

Since I was old enough to grasp a controller in my hands, I’ve loved to play video games. There’s something about getting lost in a virtual world that enthralls me, and I still think I turned out pretty well in the end! I graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Studies, and am hoping to one day incorporate my studies into my future coffee shop.
